Uploading DOT Physical to the FMCSA?
- To upload a DOT physical to the FMCSA portal, you’ll need to have your DOT physical exam results submitted electronically by the certified medical examiner to the FMCSA National Registry (.gov). The examiner will submit the results directly, and they will then be forwarded to the State Driver Licensing Agency. You no longer need to self-submit the medical examiner’s certificate to the Secretary of State.
- Please note the following steps for DOT Physical Upload after you go to a Medical Examiner for a DOT Physical.
- The certified medical examiner who performs your DOT physical will electronically submit the results to the FMCSA National Registry (.gov). This should be done by midnight (local time) on the following calendar day after the exam.
- The FMCSA National Registry (.gov) will then forward the data directly to the State Driver Licensing Agency (SDLA).
- The SDLA will verify the information and update the driver’s record.
- Please also note the following:
- In Michigan, CDL drivers no longer need to self-submit their medical examiner’s certificate.
- As of June 23, 2025, CDL and CLP holders do not need to carry paper copies of their MECs as the status is electronically verified.
Having said that, please note that DOT Physical is required and it is important to carry a valid Medical Card with you. If expired, you still need to go to a Medical Examinerhttps://www.ipsdrugtesting.com/contact-us but the process has me paperless and simpler for convenience.
